Earlier in the week a broken pipe caused around 200 gallons of raw sewage to be released into Lake Norman via a storm water pipe. Thanks to the rapid response from Mecklenburg County the issue was resolved and the negative consequences were minimal. It is imperative that citizens remain vigilant in combating water pollution because in most cases, the citizens are the first line of defense. If you suspect water pollution or observe pollution first hand, contact your local storm water department to report it immediately. You can also contact Biota Diagnostics if you would like to perform independent testing on water or soil that you believe might be contaminated and we will assist you in collecting and analyzing the samples to find the source and level of pollution.
